As you can see in the photograph, the children had to work their way througha maze in order to find an answer that totalled 100. Sounds easy? Have a go!
Number skills really were put to the test during this problem solving activity - could the children use their prior number knowledge and build on it? I'm pleased to say that several children found a method that worked.
Plenty of communication skills took place and talking partners worked extremely well during the session.
The children were also asked to find the highest total that could be made through the maze. The highest total so far was 391.
All children were engaged throughout the activity and tried a range of methods, using many maths skills.
One question that the children didn't quite reach was "What is the lowest total you can get through the maze?"If anyone wants to try this over the weekend, I'd like to hear from you!
