Musical Rounds And Planting Seeds - What a week

Homework for J6 is at the bottom of this post- please scroll down past the homework as Mrs. Marlow has explained all about Eco week and the fashion show.

J6 have been working really hard this week. Mr. Roberts taught them on Wednesday and Thursday so that I could work on our BECTA ICT award. He was really pleased with J6's attitudes towards work and each other. Well done all. We worked on our musical rounds with Mrs. Marlow on Wednesday. This has helped us develop our communication, number and thinking skills as we have had to read music and decide together when everyone comes into the round.

On Thursday with Mr. Roberts we dissected plants and found out what the different parts of a plant do. We then did the following experiment:
WALT: What are the factors that affect germination
We gathered seeds and changed the conditions that we think may affect their growth. We are watching carefully for the first signs of growth: germination. In order to carry out these experiments we had to wok collaboratively using good communication skills. This group gave their seeds light, water and soil.

This group gave their seeds light, water and planted the seeds in cotton wool (no soil).

This group didn't allow their seeds to have light (the seed tray is under the book and was quickly put back in the cupboard) but allowed water and soil.

Our final group had light, soil and no water. However Mr. Llewellyn's digital camera batteries ran out - sorry. Next week we will write up our results on the blog.
Homework
Please have a go at the homework below. Use the arrow at the top to follow onto the next task, label the different parts of the flower and click on the magnifying glass to find out more. We will be discussing what each part does next week during eco week. Have a lovely weekend and don't forget to leave a comment.
