We provided them with plenty of fancy dress items and boxes of props from our many school plays and Christmas concerts and they chose a group member to be a beast and dressed him/her up. (Mrs Marlow had the most fun turning Mr Llewellyn into a beast as a demonstration!)
After they had dressed the beast, the hard work started! The children had to work collaboratively and answer certain questions about their mythical creature.
1. What is the name of the beast?
2. What special powers does the beast have?
3. What adjectives best describe the beast?
4. Describe the beast's personality
5. What does the beast dislike? What is his/her weakness?
6. What is his aim in the myth?
The groups rotated and had to answer the same questions for other beasts.
Tomorrow, the groups will return to their original beast and work together to decide on the final choices for the beast.
Hopefully we will have some recordings for you tomorrow evening.
