Entrepreneurial Day in Year 5

Year 5 have had an entrepreneurial day today. Our topic was creativity and the children have been learning about the importance of team work.

We started off in the hall, playinng a few team games. Our communication skills were certainly challenged! The children had to put a label on the back of a group member and that person had to ask questions to try and guess the right answer.

You would not believe how long ot took Mr Llewellyn to work out "big toe" !!!!!

This afternoon, the children had a different task. Past and present item cards were distributed to the class randomly, e.g. an open fire for cooking and a fan oven, a penny farthing and a mountain bike. The children had to find their partners - which involved lots of thinking skills - especially for the children who weren't aware what sundials were used for!

We discussed the differences between the old versions of the products and the present day versions.

The children then had to work with their partners to design the product in 100 years time. This was quite a tricky challenge.

After coming up with their initial ideas, they used a snowballing technique to see what their peers with the same product had designed.

All children seemed to really enjoy the activity. Click on the photos to see the final products.
