Fire Safety

Yesterday, Pontyclun Fire Service visited J5 and J6. We had a safety talk in the hall followed by a tour of the fire engine on the yard.

The children were able to sit in the fire engine and look at all the equipment the firemen need to carry on their van.

Above you can see the pumps.

The children watched a DVD of a pretend fire situation. They saw how quickly a bedroom caught on fire and understood the dangers of leaving hairdryers etc... on beds.

After watching the DVD, the children had a talk about what to do if they were ever in a situation like that on the DVD. The firemen were pleased with the sensible responses given by J5 and J6.

What do the firemen use this piece of equipment for? Ask J5 or J6!
The firemen gave the children fire activity books to complete and also provided them with a telephone number to call if they need smoke alarms in their house. The brigade will call at your house free of charge and fit them. Mrs Marlow had them fitted this time last year.

As you can see, the boys were over the moon looking at the fire engine!

The girls were keen to listen to the fire stories.

Hang on! I recognise the two fire men below! - do you?
