The Synagogue and Techniquest

This week we had a fantastic day in Cardiff. In line with our work this half term on Judaism and space, we visited a Synagogue and then went on to explore techniquest. At the synagogue we learnt about the Hebrew alphabet, the different parts of the synagogue and how they are used and many Jewish traditions.

All males must wear a Kippah when entering a synagogue, females can if they want to.

A Torah scroll takes approximately 18 months to create, if 1 mistake is made the process has to be started again from scratch. This scroll is 350 years old and was smuggled into Wales after the second world war.

Hello girls.
Investigating with water is so much fun !!!

One member of year 5 wanted to come so much that an injured leg wouldn't put her off. Thanks mum for coming along to help.

Who is going to work it out first?

All the children really enjoyed the day and were a pleasure to take. They listened well, worked hard and had lots of fun. To finish the day off we spent a 30 min period in the planetarium and looked at the night sky above Cardiff. We explored the planets, constellations and outer space. WELL DONE EVERYONE !!
