This afternoon we were visited by cyclist Mark Colbourne, who won two silvers and one gold at the London 2012 Paralympics. We all had our photo taken with him, while his colleagues put us through our paces. Later, he told us all about his incredible journey. Click the links below to find out more.

History: The War Memorial

Over the next few weeks we are going to find out information about some of the soldiers named on the War Memorial. Today we looked at a site that gave us some information, eg addresses, where they were killed, to which regiment they belonged, where they were buried etc.

http://www.powell76.talktalk.net/Pontyclunmemorial.html

We walked to the memorial and talked about some of the soldiers we have chosen to investigate.

We then walked to Palalwyf Avenue to look at the houses where neighbours William Russell and William Tucker lived.
Then we visited Cerdin Avenue and the home of Thomas Sumsion who was killed 7 days before the war ended.

Ratting It Up!!!!

Today we looked at the poem 'Ratting It Up'. J7 answered questions, while J6 acted it out. Tomorrow both classes will be given time to perform a selection of verses. Look for the videos here!
